Perfect Garage Floor Flake System

IC Flake Floor System

ICE 100 Self Priming High-Build Epoxy + Full Flake Coverage + 2 Coats ICU 245 Fast Cure Polyurethane

The IC Garage Floor System is the ultimate garage floor system.  An Industry leader for the last 15 years, it is loved by homeowners, and contractors.  Homeowners for its unmatched beauty and durability, and contractors for its quality and ease of use.

If you are a contractor, this is the system you have been looking for – workability and quality at a price that will keep you competitive.  You know what you need in a garage floor system.  Look at the details of this system and you’ll see that it checks every box.  If you are a home or business owner, this is the system you want on your floor; incredible adhesion, and the best scuff & chemical resistance available anywhere.  This is not a water-based system.  It is the strongest material on the market today.

How much do you need?

For the self-priming epoxy ICE 100 – Figure 100 square feet per gallon (600 sqft garage = 6 gallons) to be safe.  Typical is between 100 and 120 sqft/gallon.

For the clear urethane ICU 245 – First coat; figure 250 sqft per gallon (which is ~ 375 sqft per kit), second coat = 350 sqft /gallon (~525 sqft per kit).  Each kit is 1 ½ gallons, 1 gallon of part A, and ½ gallon of part B.

For ¼” flakes – Figure .08 to .10 pounds of flakes for each square foot.  For example a 500 square foot garage would take between 500*.08 = 40 pounds, and 500*.1 = 50 pounds

The ICE 100 is not water based, it is a solvent based and approximately 85% solids.  The solvent helps it penetrate the concrete.  The ICU 245 is a fast-curing urethane.  It is approximately 60% solids, and recommended to do 2 coats (Think 2 coats in 4 to 5 hours).  It is necessary to wear charcoal filtered masks when applying these products.  Though the solvents dissipate quickly, they are strong during application.

Advantages

Homeowner/business owner:

Our greatest benefits are for the end user of our products.  The materials are unmatched in adhesion (will not detach from properly prepared concrete), chemical resistance, and scuff/abrasion resistance.  There are simply no better products, and our customers experience decades of use with no drop-off in appearance.  Our price is also very competitive which lowers the total cost of an installation.

Contractor:

Our business is built for providing professionals the materials they need right away.

Here is what you’re going to love:

  • Unmatched quality.
  • Availability.  Deep stock & same-day delivery on most orders.
  • Very competitive price.
  • Our epoxy is self-priming.  Saves money on a primer, and more importantly saves time.
  • Our epoxy is offered in gallon increments.  Some competitors offer it in 3-gallon increments, ie. 2 gallons of A to one gallon of B (hardener).  If you only need 1 gallon or less, theirs can get very expensive, because epoxy is not something you want to measure out in the field to try to use partial amounts.
  • We have a low temperature/fast cure version of our epoxy.  In temperatures below 50 degrees F you can continue to work.
  • Fast curing Urethane.  This allows you to get 2 coats of urethane on in the same day.
  • Working time.  With our epoxy you have a good 30 minutes of working time.  Some competitors use a tinted polyaspartic as a base (which is much higher cost and worse adhesion) and it has far less working time – especially in warm or hot temperatures, which makes it difficult to get the chips broadcasted before it hardens.  The result is diminished quality – or increased labor cost to keep ahead of material.

DIYer:

We love DIYers!  You guys/girls do your homework.  You watch the videos, research the materials, and do it all 10 times in your head before you make your decision to buy.  We believe the more you know, the more you’ll like our system.  We also try to give you as much information as we can and don’t mind at all if you call us with a question.

All of the features that our contractors like (see above) are important to you, however, the most important of all is that you’ve found the material that will make your finished garage floor look absolutely amazing (and stay that way for decades).  Most DIY kits contain water-based epoxy and if they include a clear top coat, it too is water based.  These systems usually look fine for a while, but show dirt, scratches and tire marks that can’t be removed.  Ours will look new for years and years despite constant use.

Ours is also easier to work with than most professional systems.  Our epoxy has a good working time of about 30 minutes which gives enough time to cover completely with flakes.  The urethane also has a pot-life of about an hour that gives ample time to get a uniform coat down.  Other professional systems use polyaspartics.  Polyaspartics are popular with professionals primarily for their extremely fast cure time – usually around an hour or two.  However, this comes at a cost of an extremely short pot life – usually around ten to fifteen minutes.  So, without experience with polyaspartics, it is a risky idea to try them in a DIY project.

For full coverage of chips multiply the square footage by .08 to .1.

For example: 400 square feet needs 400 x .08 = 32 pounds, to 400 x .1 = 40 pounds.

The chips come in 20- and 40-pound boxes.
